What our Logo Means:
A red, white and blue shield superimposed over the outline of Germany signifies the roots of AWAG, American spouses in Germany. On the upper part of the shield, the deep blue color, associated with steadfastness and loyalty, represents the unique involvement in family and community life typical of today’s volunteer. The three stars represent the three goals of AWAG: to encourage participation in volunteer activities, to provide quality training for leadership volunteers, and to foster relationships between American community members and the host nation. The five berries signify leadership, hospitality, dedication, selflessness, and caring…all characteristics of volunteers. The ribbon weaves around and through all the parts of the logo, just as the efforts of volunteers strengthen and connect their communities.
